CBT
coMPULSORY BASIC TRAINING IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT FOR ALL PROVISIONAL LICENCEHOLDERS.
CBT IS BASED AROUND A SIX HOUR DAY , 4 HOURS ON OUR TRAINING SITE AND 2 HOURS ON THE ROAD.
CBT IS A “ROLLING ASSESSMENT” SO YOU CAN’T FAIL, BUT YOU MAY NEED SOME EXTRA TIME TO ACHIEVE THE STANDARD. YOUR INSTRUCTOR WILL ADVISE YOU AT THE TIME.
YOUR INSTRUCTOR IS NOT LOOKING FOR TEST STANDARD RIDING BUT HE IS LOOKING FOR A SAFE AND COMPETANT RIDE.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BEEN READING THE HIGHWAY CODE AND THEORY TEST HANDBOOK BEFORE YOU COME TO US. IF YOU HAVE NEVER USED THE ROAD BEFORE ASK A DRIVER TO DO A ‘ROLLING COMMENTARY’ IT WILL HELP YOU A GREAT DEAL

RESTRICTED ACCESS
This course allows anyone over the age of 17 to take their test on a 125cc machine. Allowing the use of any machine restricted to 33BHP after their test.
This license automatically upgrades to full power after 2 years.
Due to the power restrictions of the test it normally requires slightly less training to prepare a candidate for the test. As such the ‘Restricted Access’ course skips the first two lessons after CBT, moving straight on to the slow speed machine control lesson. For a full explanation of the course please read the ‘Direct Access’ course below (skipping the first two lessons).

DIRECT ACCESS
This course allows anyone over the age of 21 to ride full power motorcycles without a probation period.
Following completion of CBT the next session is a 2-hour upgrade to one of our 650cc motorcycles. This is an easy lesson and carries no pressure. Providing we are satisfied with your progress, the next time we meet will be for a 100 mile round trip to Llangollen!
During the 4-hour Llangollen lesson, you will cover every type of road you are legally allowed to ride on from single-track county lanes to major trunk dual carriage ways. You will be given a basic insight in to setting the bike up for taking bends in the smoothest, safest way.
This is a great fun lesson that sets you on your way towards becoming a competent rider, it is certainly not to be missed!
The rest of the course is the same for 125 & 650 riders.
The next lesson covers slow speed machine control, over 2-hours you will be guided towards your Module 1 test preparation riding round town perfecting your clutch control and practicing your emergency stops, U-turns and hill starts. This lesson is perhaps the most taxing of all.
After this we will meet for a two hour lesson at the DSA Test Centre. Here you will be shown & put through each of the manoeuvres in preparation for the module 1 (Off Road) test.
Your final lesson will take a further 3-hours, during which you will ride out to your Module Two test centre and explore the roads you will be riding for your test. Hidden signs, faded bus lanes and all manor of other special local conditions will be highlighted to you to help prevent a silly road craft mistake costing you your test.
The final part of the course is when we take ou to the test centre for your module 2 (Road) test.
Because our courses are structured to focus on different facets, it is easy to see if you are going astray. You will also be able to self assess your own progress and we can discuss extra training if needed.
